Re: A/C - compressor / pulley stopping intermittenly Sign In

Hope I saw what you intended. That's the relationship chart. See that at about 71F pressure equals the temp and curves away lower or higher than that.

To beat on "ambient" it's the air coming IN THRU GRILLE that matters. That is by the spot you are working. Mid day, full sun you can't touch the ground yet it's cool out? Winter, the ground is still frozen but can be 80F out sucking that up and in? Cars only know that air, about a foot in front of grill off the ground.

Think: Haven't you walked (say barefoot) and burn feet and air is fine? Other way, try that right now on a nice day that was 10F the night before. This problem is frequently with pets it's fine out why are they complaining.

That's exactly what I mean - take the temp in front of the car/truck it's all it knows.

If you have to do a car (work this trade) every 1/2 hour you get zillions of bucks in equipment and fire them out from empty with charges by weight ALL the time not DIY with assorted stuff in changable conditions absolute can be done takes forever to get right harder for low capacity systems almost impossible takes so long the temps all changed so pull hair out and start all over.

For me, I use two wired thermometer that are fast. One inside car and probe where I can see output temps. Another if needed hold in front of grills see that. Infrared to see temps of lines at firewalls, hoses in and out of compressors too. Still takes lots of time all that just to charge but not overcharge a system see that it worked most wouldn't have even near that much stuff plus two sets of gauge if one acts up don't waste time fussing with it.

Wish you luck just beware of what I said plus the dang product where you stored it overnight I don't waste shop room keep that stuff out this time of year - most don't do A/C where I am at all it's too costly for a 3 month season,

Tom

Again sorry I went by this chart and thought the Ambient reflects the actual weather temperature …

Making sure you understand.............
That chart reflects the STATIC pressure of refrigerant in a tank.
That would be the pressure within the tank at a given temp. It doesn't tell you anything about operating pressures of a system, except that they will be lower in cool temps and higher in hot temps so the chart is of no value in diagnosing a car.
