Ac malfunctioning

Hello y'all and thanks in advance for any help you offer. 2002 Infiniti I35 V6 200k miles Suddenly the last two weeks the ac will blow cold sometimes and hot other times. There is no pattern to it, it will start up and blow cold the entire drive, it will start up and blow hot the entire drive, it will cycle from cold to hot. Etc I checked the low side port and when it is blowing hot air it shows 65psi but when the radiator fans click on for a second it jumps back to 43-45psi so I don't know whether to let some out or not and was wondering if maybe the clutch needs reshimming but wanted to ask some advice first and see what others think. I have never had this issue so I have no knowledge on fixing it but I do my work myself and can't afford a pricy shop. Thanks, Heather

Why would you let some out? Did someone add some? Are these warm periods only when stopped or in slow traffic or does it happen at cruising speeds also? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Heather - can you check the air gap of compressor's clutch? If known untouched for 200K no surprise it's too large of a gap and takes tools up to removing compressor to adjust. If you measure over .030 w everything off - engine off too it's too large to engage when hot and may when it cools down more. Essentially you probably should find a "pricey" A/C shop for this but could check yourself, T
