Engine repaired but valve lifter noise exists yet Sign In

Hi dear Engine mechanics.
My car is chevy lumina 1997 M 3.1L V6 (L82 engine).
Before repair my engine loosed coolant liquid and made clicking noise.
Repair includes, upside block heads plane, full gasget set and steam seals change, all valve lifters change, all spark plug cables change. And of course normal engine oil change procedure.
But it stil makes clicking noise. What is the problem? Engine mechanic says that I need to try different oils and if noise has gone with one of them I have to use that one. I do not believe him anymore.
Please help me. What is the main problem that new valve lifters make noise when oil pressure is OK. Has mechanic made the job not adequate to procedure?

Can you record the noise? Then post it up on a video hosting site and paste the link in here?

Hmmm? How long ago was this work done? What oil are you using that this mechanic thinks could be the only problem?
