okay so i bought this camaro im trying to take all the paint a rust off and im reapairing rust damage and have a free paint job lined up. but the engine and transmission... what do i do? i want a v8 not smaller than a 350. but what are the engine sizes that fit in a camaro that are 350 and above. and its a berlinetta. also i want to put a manual tranny in thats a 5 or six speed what am i looking for ? im not looking for original parts either just wanna make it run nice for a decent price.

IMO - If you want to fix a rusted car (unseen rust can be fatal) and swap engine and trans why not use it for parts and get one that originally came with what you want? You'll go broke with time and money for a rusted car fix up with those changes as I see it, T

i agree with tom. i use it for parts of junk it in for one that is in good shape. i had a 84 mustang that i couldnt get running and i just used junked it in and bought a 85 camaro Z28 with a 305. my oppinion is go with a 305. ive heard to many bad reports with people having camaro's with 350's or above. yes there alot faster but they dont last as long, and a 305 will get going at least 140.
