I have a question if anyone knows.....I was driving my car when it suddenly cutt off and I went coasting. It cranks back up, however when I put into gear shift it doesn't move. Any suggestions...

So.., if you give it gas it will just rev up and wont move?
Try all the gears selections and see if the same thing happens.

Yes I cranks up the engine gets going when I hitt the gas, but no movement in any gears.
I was thinking timing belt, but that doesn't have anything to do with the movement of the vehicle in this model
I'm thinking something in my engine?

If the engine cranks up, revs up and the car dosen't move, i'd be looking at the clutch.

The engine starts and revs up.
It's in the tranny.
Check the ATF fluid level.

By the way he makes it sounds, it sounds like it's a automatic.
And who would buy a mitsubishi in 2000 that isn't an automatic..hahaLaugh

Also while your checking your transmission fluid, inspect the CV axles. If you break an axle, the vehicle won't move.
